The Loveland High School Crimson Regiment is the largest performing group associated with the Loveland High School Bands program. The band performs at all varsity football games, at least three Colorado Bandmasters-sactioned competitions, plus regionals and state – if qualified, parades and occasional guest appearances. The marching band is open to any band or color guard student. Once a student has been accepted into the marching band, he/she must pass a series of playing and marching tests and maintain passing grades in order to qualify for marching performances.
- Summer band rehearsals normally begin in early to mid-June for in-coming freshmen with a 3-day camp and a 2-day camp for the entire band, a 3-day camp in July and a 5-day camp in August with regular rehearsals continuing until school starts.
- Throughout football season, rehearsals will be held before or after school. Thursday evenings rehearsals are held at the Loveland Sports Park and/or weekend clinics are held every Saturday except on competition days.
Wind Symphony (Ensemble)
The Wind Symphony is made up of the most musically and technically advanced students. Any band member in grades 9-12 is allowed into Wind Symphony, by audition only. Performances include several concerts and CBA Concert Regional and State competitions. In addition, the Wind Ensemble may perform at one or more festivals. Members of the Wind Symphony are asked to participate in All-State tryouts and to participate in our private lesson program. There will be sectionals with required attendance before or after school during the entire school year.
The Symphonic Band is comprised of students with above-average musical and technical skills. Performances include several concerts and CBA Concert Regional and State competitions. Members of the Symphonic Winds are encouraged to participate in All-Region tryouts and to aggressively participate in our private lesson program. There will be sectionals with required attendance before or after school during the entire school year.
The Concert Band is comprised of students in grades 9-12 that have not yet developed the skills required for the other ensembles. Performances include the winter and spring concerts. Members of the Concert Band are strongly encouraged to participate in All-Region tryouts and solo and ensemble competitions, and to aggressively participate in our private lesson program.
Jazz Ensemble I & II
Membership in the band program is required for anyone interested in auditioning for the Jazz Ensemble I or II, with the possible exception of piano, bass, and guitar. Instrumentation includes alto, tenor, and bari saxes, trumpets, trombones, piano, bass, drum set, possibly guitar, possibly vibes, and auxiliary percussion. There are numerous other invitational performances in the area throughout the year as well.
Jazz Ensemble I is our prestigious jazz ensemble that has earned a reputation for musical excellence in the state of Colorado and is fast becoming one of the top jazz ensembles in the state. This advanced level class focuses on mastery of individual and ensemble playing skills and an added emphasis on performance.
Jazz Ensemble II is our entry-level jazz ensemble that further develops a student’s skills and beginning improvisation. Evaluations, listening, and performing will assist a student in this ensembleto prepare for successful participation in Jazz Ensemble I.
Extra- Curricular Ensembles
Description: Open to students in grades 9-12.
Ensembles Offered: Flute Choir, Flute Trio, Clarinet Quartet, Clarinet Choir, Double Reed Ensemble, Woodwind Quintet, Woodwind Choir, Sax Quartet, Sax Choir, Trumpet Ensemble, Horn Quartet, Trombone Choir, Brass Ensemble, Low Brass Ensemble, and Brass Quintet.
Ensembles will be offered based on availability and student interest. Students are encouraged to participate in various small ensembles. Emphasis will be on one student to a part to literature. Many public performance opportunities will be available including school concerts, community outreach events, and solo and ensemble contest. These ensembles are extra-curricular and rehearse and perform outside of school hours. If a student wishes to receive credit for participation they must register for Music Ensembles by working with their counselor.
Description: Open to students in grades 9-12. This ensemble is comprised of students in the Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band percussion sections. Percussion Ensemble is a co-curricular activity designed to challenge and enable percussionists to expand their skills in mallets, concert percussion, and world percussion. Percussion Ensemble begins after marching season concludes. This ensemble will perform at school concerts and at various other venues. Membership in Percussion Ensemble is limited to students whose primary instrument is percussion and/or piano.
Description: The Loveland High School Percussion Ensemble is a co-curricular activity provided by the Loveland Band Boosters. All members of the Percussion Ensemble will be expected to pay for individual sticks and mallets as well as a participation fee. Members will also be required to fund raise and work regularly at band booster sponsored Ranch Concessions. Members are expected to attend all rehearsals and performances.
